Early morning start today after little sleep, this is fast becoming my daily mantra. Darcy is cutting her front tooth – she does not teeth well – we all suffer.

Lock down thoughts of the day – I wonder if we will ever shake off the need to give everybody we encounter a wide berth. I find that whenever I am out on my daily excursion with the kids that my instinctive reaction to anyone approaching is wrangle the kids like I am herding sheep to create this miracle 2m distance between us. Today Nancy came sprinting up behind me shouting ‘people, PEOPLE MUM!!’ I am trying to be as nonchalant as is safely possible about this virus, however, her reaction shows that I am failing this miserably. Also I have a confession, I have never been any good at depth perception I genuinely can not tell what 2m is, I am just giving the widest berth possible and quite often end up in a bush….

Todays news: Lockdown is to be continued for at least the next 3 weeks……shit……

Friday 17th April

Awoken by my biggest 2 having a full blown fight over who should have a furry blanket (we have 2) I had to jump out of bed to stop it descending into an actual punch up at 6:45am. After playing referee I had to confiscate the blanket, the baby woke up and was subsequently wide awake, the big 2 had stormed off in a unanimous huff and I was left bleary eyed pondering on the supreme shitenes of this particular wake up.

There was only one thing for it I put the tv on and got cosy under the coveted blanket (it is a really lush blanket). Me and the baby must have fallen asleep at some point because the next thing I knew it was 10am and teen titans was playing on Netflix and F&N having made up were sat watching it.

The rest of the day was reserved for staying in, its the first day of lockdown where the weather has been terrible. How typical that as soon lockdown is issued we experience glorious spring time weather.

Saturday 18th April

Collecting shopping for the in-laws today and dropping it over to them I am only taking the baby so am free to listen to a filthy podcast and go for a drive. Absolute bliss!

Sunday 19th April

Collecting our own shopping today and a few bits that the in laws couldn’t get on their shopping delivery. Taking the whole family this time and its a nice excuse to go for a drive, we’ve all got proper clothes on, I’ve even brushed my hair, a wonderful little slice of normalcy! Although all standing in the garden of the grandparents waving from a distance is desperately sad…

I took our glass recycling on this trip, as we pulled up someone else arrived doing the same. The inevitable crashing of wine bottles was comical and the man who was also recycling commented on the amount of wine bottles he had. I didn’t have to point out that ours was a 2 man job it was abundantly clear, but Joe did highlight the sheer amount of mayonnaise jars that we were recycling (I have a mayonnaise problem) alongside the wine bottles.

We even had time for a glorious sunny evening walk into the forest before dinner today and we’ve decided that the kids are having a movie night in their room so everyone is a winner.

Grease came on the tv over dinner time, watching it with the kids made me realise how hilariously dirty it is. I think that maybe someone dropped the ball at channel 4….can you say pussy wagon pre-watershed? Also singing a song with the lines ‘you know that ain’t no shit, we’ll be getting lots of tit in grease lightnin’ and ‘you are supreme, the chicks’ll cream for grease lightnin’

Big kids have watched 2 films, and wanted a third, Joe has gone in to put it on. He’s been gone a while, I’ve just gone in to check on him and all three are fast asleep.

I found them asleep at 11pm its now 1am. This is the only time I’ve had on my own in ages I am going to be knackered in the morning!

Monday 20th April

I got woken up this morning by Darcy hitting me on the head with a piece of wood….I have many questions, the first is ‘Why?’ Swiftly followed by ‘where the hell did the wood come from?’ and ‘how did she get out of the cot?’……I suspect the bigger 2 had a hand in it or Darcy is very advanced for her years.

School officially started back today, I have been assigned home learning, we have started nothing.
